Vivek Oberoi is turning brawny

Vivek Oberoi is turning brawny for director Apoorva Lakhia’s next film Mission Istanbul.

After a successful Shootout At Lokhandwala, Lakhia has moved out of Sanjay Gupta’s camp. Now, he is all set to direct a thriller for Sunil Shetty and Ekta Kapoor.

The movie, Mission Istanbul, stars Vivek Oberoi, Bobby Deol and a few other actors who are yet to be finalized.

Since Vivek has a hard-hitting role in the film, he has been asked to develop a good physique for his role. And who better to ask for tips in bodybuilding than Sunil Shetty, who seems to have become an authority on health and fitness after his Biggest Loser Jeetega show.

Vivek has reportedly asked Sunil for physical training regimens and detailed diet charts. Sunil has got Vivek introduced to his physiotherapist, nutritionist and even chef.

In fact, Vivek has hit the gym with vengeance and is working out arduously to develop a brawny look for his role in Mission Istanbul. He is also following the diet regimen prescribed by experts.

Vivek still has two more months to tone up his body as the shooting of the film starts from the first week of October.

Bobby in a hard-hitting role

Bobby Deol is all set to play a dark, grim and yet hard-hitting character in a forthcoming film.

After his realistic cops-and-gangsters drama in Sehar, director Kabeer Kaushik is ready to make another gritty thriller. The film, said to be titled Chamkoo, will tell the story of a Bihari youth who comes to Mumbai and is sucked into its crime world. Bobby Deol will play this lead character.

Incidentally, Kaushik had approached Bobby to play the lead role of a conscientious cop in Sehar, too. But at that time Bobby was apprehensive about working with new directors. Now that he has seen Kaushik’s work in Sehar (which Bobby believes was a superb film) Bobby is more than happy to be part of Chamkoo.

For his Bihari character in the film, Bobby will be incorporating a Bihari accent in his dialogue delivery. Bobby may also shed his chic and savvy look to play the uncouth Bihari youth.

Major part of the film’s story is set in Mumbai. Bobby’s character moves from Bihar to Mumbai very early in the story.

Bipasha to do an item in John's film

Bipasha Basu will make a single song appearance in the John Abraham starrer No Smoking.

'Beedi Jalaile' and 'Namak Isq Ka' showed that Bipasha could gyrate to item numbers. Now, producer Kumar Mangat and composer Vishal Bharadwaj have roped in Bipasha once again to show her gyrations in Anurag Kashyap’s forthcoming movie.

The interesting bit is that Kashyap had previously approached Bipasha to play the female lead opposite John in the film. While Bipasha couldn’t do the role then, she has now agreed to dance to an item number in the film.

Reports have it that Kashyap had previously thought of shooting the song on model Jesse Randhawa. Now, it is Bipasha who will play the oomph belle in the item. The song will be shot in the coming weeks.

No Smoking has John playing a compulsive smoker. His addiction affects his relationship with his wife and with people in his workplace. Ayesha Takia is John’s heroine in the film.

Abhay Deol as modern-day Devdas

Talented filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is set to direct a modern-day version of Devdas.

Bengali author Sarat Chandra Chatterjee’s novel Devdas has inspired directors like Bimal Roy and Sanjay Leela Bhansali to make a film on the book.

Now, Anurag Kashyap, who is known for realistic kind of cinema, will give his own interpretation to the story of a bacchanalian lover who drinks himself to death.

Kashyap’s film will be titled Dev.D and will feature Abhay Deol in the title role. Punjabi actress Mahi Gill will play Paro, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya will play Chunilal.

In fact, it was Abhay Deol who came upon the idea of making a modern-day Devdas. Kashyap loved Abhay’s idea and decided to direct the movie. Kashyap says his Devdas will be a man of present times. He will wear jeans, T-shirts and will be a character that today’s generation can relate to.

Search is on for another actress to play the role of the charming Chandramukhi.

Big B may star in Ridley Scott's next film

Reports are that Bollywood mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan may star in Ridley Scott’s next film that will have Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe as his co-stars.

Talking to a prominent newspaper Bachchan revealed that he received an email from Scott’s office last week to star in Scott’s ambitious Body Of Lies, a thriller with an Al-Qaeda plot. William Monahan, who also wrote The Departed, has written the film.

"Ridley Scott wants me to play a part of the Jordanian in the film. I’ve asked for more details. I need to see the script before I take a call. Let’s be realistic. Who will notice me when DiCaprio and Crowe are in the same film," Bachchan joked.

The buzz is that Scott is really keen to direct Bachchan. The two first met in 2003 at the Marrakech Film Festival in Rabat, Morocco where Scott offered Bachchan a role in the 2005 spectacle Kingdom Of Heaven.
Though Bachchan didn’t do that part, things look brighter this time round.

Body Of Lies has Crowe playing a CIA boss who teams up with DiCaprio as an operative trying to trap an Al Qaeda leader.

Three Deols to team up again

Even as their first movie together Apne is having a fairly good run at the theatres, the three Deols are geared up for another flick.

If Apne had them in somewhat real-life roles of a close-knit family, the second film will have Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol playing three conmen.

The script of the film is being written by Neeraj Pathak. Anil Sharma, who is like a family member to the Deols, will once again direct them in the new movie.

Neeraj has reportedly narrated the script idea to Dharmendra who has given him a go-ahead to write a proper script for the film. He has known Neeraj for close to three years now and has full confidence in his ability as a scriptwriter.

Plans are afoot to begin the film’s shooting soon.

John's attempt to be a feeble-looking man

Bollywood star John Abraham has lost weight to play the part of a compulsive gambler who falls sick after striking it rich.

John told a newspaper that he needed to portray a feeble-looking man in the movie titled Aashayein, which is being shot in Pondicherry and is directed Nagesh Kukunoor.

"Yes, it is true that I have lost a lot of weight for the film," John said. "I did it to match the brief I was given."

Producer Preet Bedi said a gym had been set up next door to John's hotel room so he could stay fit.

"John is someone who is extremely serious about his workout schedule," said Bedi. "The gym has been set up to keep his weight in check and also to keep him fit."

The debut of Urvashi Sharma

Model-turned-actress Urvashi Sharma makes her debut in Bollywood with a film that is touted as the ‘most shocking thriller of the year’.

The film is the Abbas-Mastan directed flick Naqaab stars Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna opposite Urvashi.

Urvashi has been signed for an eight-film contract with Tips Films –the production house that is also producing Naqaab.

Urvashi started her career as a model and having been the face of Ponds, TBZ and Garnier, Urvashi soon conquered the modeling circuit by her sheer beauty, grace and professionalism. With striking features and poise she rapidly made her way into Bollywood and bagged the eight-film contract.

Despite Naqaab being her very first film, Urvashi exudes terrific screen presence, which is, clearly noticed in the promos.

Urvashi has not only made an impact on the producers, but as a newcomer has also made a tremendous impact on her co-stars, Bobby and Akshaye.

Naqaab revolves around Urvashi, although this character would have demanded a seasoned actress, Akshaye defends by saying, "Naqaab needed a girl with no image and Urvashi is the perfect find, her face and body language suits the part.”

Bobby concludes by saying, “It was a pleasure working with Urvashi and for a newcomer she is supremely confident and professional.”

Only time will tell how much Urvashi stands up to the faith shown in her by the producers and her co-stars.

Abhishek will not work with Vivek

Apoorva Lakhia's attempts to sign up Abhishek Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi for his next film titled Mission To Istanbul have come a cropper. That is because of the junior Bachchan’s refusal to do the film.

Lakhia just cannot make a film without one of the Bachchans being in it. So Abhishek, a dear friend, was an automatic choice for the film that features four heroes.

After two successive flops, Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost and Ek Ajnabee Lakhia hit bull’s eye with Shootout At Lokhandwala.

Lakhia attributes the success of the film to Vivek, whom he now considers as his lucky mascot. Consequently, Vivek too was an automatic choice for a lead role. However, Abhishek refused to do the film and that set the rumours that it is because they have a history named Aishwarya Rai.
